Wedding programs serve a relatively straightforward purpose. Its sole purpose is to give the guests of your wedding a sense of orientation. Who are the bridesmaids? Who is officiating and what are they talking about? What happens next? And most importantly, when can I eat??
These are they types of questions your guests are asking themselves during your procession, and these are also the types of questions your wedding program should address. And at a minimum, your wedding program should answer the following questions:
- Who is getting married?
- Who is officiating?
- Who is the Best Man?
- Who is the Maid of Honor?
- Who are the Groomsmen?
- Who are the Bridesmaids?
- What is the order of events for the ceremony?
That being said, it is YOUR big day and your programs can say much, much more about your special day as you would like! One thing we don’t see nearly enough of is couples telling a bit about themselves and why they are getting married, to begin with! You are getting married to this person after all! Doesn’t it make sense to tell your love story to the people you’ve invited to your special day?
We certainly think that couples that are getting married should include their love story into their wedding programs however and whenever possible. People love a good story after all. And since your guests will likely at the very least glance through your wedding program, we believe this is a perfect place to tell your guests a little bit about how you fell in love!
One way to do this is with a wedding program that is in magazine format. These wedding programs not only answer all of your guests' basic questions that we listed above, but they will also draw your guests into your own personal love story and show off just how special your special day really is! Unlike typical wedding programs that get tossed in the trash the next day, these special keepsakes will be cherished by family and friends for generations.
